If you are new to calendar printing, I bet you just thought of the traditional print calendar design with a calendar table with 1 image per month of the year. It is the best, simplest and most standard design format for calendar printing. It is a typical and practical way to start off your designs. What if I tell you though that you can easily add 5 fine additions to your color calendar layout to make more substantial and even beautiful? There are a few special design techniques outthere that can help you get the color calendars that you want. Let me show you how some simple extra design elements can make your print calendar come alive.
1.Holiday graphics – One good example of an extra design element for your calendar printing are “holiday” graphics. In most cases, designers just place in labels for important dates in a typical color calendar. To make things more interesting, while at the same time flagging these important dates for attention, it is a good idea to add additional graphic elements into those dates. For example, you can place a cartoon Santa on Christmas day, your nation flag on your independence day or place other important symbols and characters in their respective dates. These graphics can add that extra special element to those specific days in your calendar printing. Most people will appreciate those additional flags since sometimes people do ignore the text in color calendars. Pictures will better remind them of important dates.
2.Background gradients – Another good additional design element for your color calendars are background color gradients. If you look at most custom calendars out there, you will see that they usually use block full page colors in all pages of the calendar. This is good in itself, but you can make things more interesting by adding color gradients. Color gradients are basically backgrounds or fillers that seamlessly change from one color to another. These adds some depth into the custom calendar printing design making it look more natural and alive. So try out some color gradients in your calendar background. Trust me, you will see something new for your color calendars.
3.Background textures – Of course, if you can fiddle with the color of your custom calendars, you might also want to add an additional design element, the background texture. Textures are a great way to add personality and themes to your calendar printing. By making the background appear like it was made from canvass, wood, rock or other material, you can improve the looks and theme of your custom calendars to get a better impact. It is easy to insert textures into your backgrounds so it should be no hassle at all. Also, with all the new textures that can be downloaded for free on the Internet, you will have plenty of options for any theme you want in calendar printing.
4.Calendar table shadows – For a more simple approach, you may also just want to try out adding an additional shadow element for your calendar table. By just adding shadows to the table or elements of the color calendar table, you can emphasize it and make it pop out from the design. Shadows are subtle but they add more dimensions to calendars making them look better.
5.Calendar text effects – Finally, you can also improve the text of your calendar designs to make them look a little bit more interesting. From adding different colors and color gradients to placing in textures, outer glows and even inner shadows, you can turn simple calendar text in words that come alive naturally within your calendars. Just mix and match the text effects your software application will give you. You’ll have a great time playing with these design elements and you can improve your calendar printing’s looks significantly.
So there you have it, some additional design elements to try out in calendar printing. It should be interesting to use in for your custom calendars. Try them out and test them. It never hurts to try.
